About Mind Without Fear
The name of the blog- ‘Mind Without Fear’ is inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s (Nobel Laureate in literature) famous poem of the same name which can be found on the ‘Introduction‘ page.
While our society now is more encouraging and open about discussing important social and political issues like equality, discrimination, education and climate change (to name a few); there are many issues that we still refrain from discussing. I believe that it is of utmost importance to continue having these discussions in order to progress as a society and not move backwards, no matter how difficult the conversation is. It is especially important for us to continue engaging in this discourse as Australians within the Australian context, in order to hold up to the fundamental values our constitutional founders envisioned. The Australian coat of arms pays homage to two animals- the kangaroo and the emu as both animals can never move backwards.
I chose the name ‘Mind Without Fear’ because I believe that we should have the courage and confidence to speak our minds without being fearful as we have a fundamental responsibility as Australians and as humans as well to continue to progress as society.
I chose to write this blog because I feel that young people’s voices are often silenced, which is a major injustice. As a generation, we have so much to say, so many ideas to share, and so many things we want to learn. However, I often feel that we are pushed aside because of our age.
This blog is also an outlet for my passions: writing, current affairs and politics. The topics I write most about include education, discrimination, gender equality and politics. I expect to update the blog at least once a week.
The comment sections under each blog post is open so please do share your opinions and perspectives (even if you disagree with me!). You will also see an option to ‘subscribe’ at the bottom of each page. Subscribing means that you will get an email each time I post, so if you like my writing, please do subscribe as I don’t want you to miss out. Happy reading!
